Gynecomastia or male breast augmentation is a problem that concerns a large percentage of men. This is an anomaly, which may be caused by genetic factors, body mass increase or obesity, using anabolic steroids or marihuana, alcohol abuse, etc.
Gynecomastia eliminating surgery is short, simple and leaves virtually no scars at all. In some cases the surgery may lead to eliminating excessive amounts of fat tissue and glandular tissue, and may be performed by means of slight incisions within the margin of the areola of the nipple. Far more often it is essential to make a small and incision, invisible within the lower margin, which is used to eliminate the thick, fibrous glandular tissue. This is immediately followed by liposuction, performed to shape the chest.
The procedure is conducted in an operating room, under general anaesthesia, with participation of anaesthesiological and surgical staff. The procedure lasts about 40-60 minutes. The patient is required to stay in the clinic for 1-2 days.
