WHAT IS PLATELET-RICH PLASMA?
Platelet-rich plasma is a concentrate of autologic (individual) platelets of the patient in a small amount of plasma, and its usage is based on the ability of the organism to regenerate. The concentrate contains growth factors produced by blood platelets, which lead to regeneration and visible rejuvenation of the skin. The above-mentioned effect is obtained due to stimulation of stem cells to multiply, increase collagen production by fibroblasts and support the process of creating new blood vessels.
Platelet-rich plasma is used mainly in people desiring to firm, smooth and balance the skin, as well as to smooth wrinkles and folds. The procedure is also recommended after other aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery procedures as a natural method supporting skin healing and regenerating processes.
Regeneris technique, which is used in Art Medical Centre, has entered the cannon of aesthetic medicine procedures in the year 2003 and today it is successfully used in surgery, orthopaedics and dentistry, as it is extremely effective and at the same time natural and biocompatible regeneration and rejuvenation method. It is utilised in treating various types of skin problems, it is particularly useful for people allergic to chemical products or people who prefer using natural products.
INDICATIONS TO UNDERGO THE PROCEDURE
PREPARATION PRECEDING THE PROCEDURE
Preparation preceding the procedure lies in conducting detailed interview and in assessing the skin condition. During the visit, the doctor explains possibilities and course of the procedure, as well as selects the most appropriate method of administering platelet-rich plasma for each patient. In order to minimise the discomfort related with injections, a locally anaesthetic cream is placed on the anticipated injection site about 30 to 60 minutes prior to the procedure.
THE PROCEDURE
The procedure begins with collection of a small blood amount to special probes (1-3 depending on the type of the procedure) performed by a nurse or a physician. Then the blood is centrifuged for 5 minutes in a centrifuge in order to separate erythrocytes and leukocytes from plasma containing blood platelets. A special agent stimulating blood platelets to produce growth factor is added to probes. Platelet-rich plasma that is created in this way may be administered in the form of mesotherapy, linearly along the wrinkle or fold or as a mask after aesthetic medicine procedures. After the procedure the patient may observe a small transient oedema or haematoma in the injection site, which relief in idiopathic manner. The procedure does not exclude the patient from patient’s daily routine. In order to benefit from a fully long-term effect it is recommended to perform a series of procedures (2-4 series depending on the utilised plasma administering method).
